Baseball writers will surely take delight in the fact that a federal judge unsealed hundreds of pages of documents that make-up the backbone of the case against Barry Bonds, but analysts here were hoping for a different result in the steroids investigation.

Not so much because we think people should go to jail for steroids use, but rather because it'd be nice to expose the hypocrisy and mania surrounding the very issue of cheating and lawlessness.

Let's face it: to many Americans, if you're not cheating, you're not trying.

Up until now there was about as much evidence of cheating against Bonds in the public record as there is of another, more celebrated, athlete.  Who, for some reason, hasn't had his career met with the same scrutiny -- not at least on these shores.

Yes, America, this guy probably cheated, too.

Analysts here believe the Los Angeles Police Department chose a poor time to dismiss a report denying racial bias in its policing.  Particularly in light of the Oscar Grant case in Oakland.

There are a lot of black or Hispanic bad guys, analysts here aren't naive.

A cheap joke, I know... but it's early.

But we're not talking about inconvienent Driving While Black traffic stops here...

When innocent, unarmed men from New York to Long Beach get beaten or killed it's nearly always someone of color.  If that isn't some sort of profiling... we don't know what is.
