Here in the blog-o-sphere there's been lamenting and gnashing of teeth over the cancelation of two black sit-coms (The Game and Everybody Hates Chris -- never mind the facts that those shows were low-rated and had run for a combined 152 episodes in a day and age when even a Friends spin-off wasn't long for this world).  And there's great skepticism about whether or not Fox's Brothers will resurrect the black family sit-com.

Let's see... Chill Mitchell, CCH Pounder, the NFL Single Season Sack Leader and Apollo Creed.  Sure.  Why not?

But perhaps we're looking in the wrong place for comedy.  At least that's what it seems as some recent commercials have seemed sharper and funnier than anything we've seen on the air in a while.

Minority dealerships hit hard by the GM and Chrysler closings, minority homeowners stung by the housing crisis... something tells me this financial crisis is really not so good for black folk.

President Obama's speech on torture and national security, when juxtaposed against former Vice President Cheney's, clearly illustrates why our Commander in Chief ain't the one to mess with.

On the CW, the bastard child of former African-American programming stalwarts UPN and the WB, there are now more shows with vampire leads than black.  Not necessarily anything to lament when you consider the quality of the shows that have disappeared, but certainly something to think about.

Where did you go UPN? WB?
