Ladies and gentlemen... she just put a man in the White House.  That's power.

Kiss the ring, bitches... kiss the ring.

Almost makes up for "Beloved"...

Well, almost.

LOSERS

Negative Images  (NEGIM) 2.09 -7.26 -77.65%

The election of Barack Obama will not end racism, but for the next four years a more positive, well-rounded image of blacks will be presented to the world.

Because this...

this...

...and even this...

...can't compete with THIS...

The passage of California Proposition 8, which amends the state constitution to prohibit gays from marrying, tempers Wednesday's euphoria.  Particularly in light of the support black voters gave the measure (seven in ten supported it -- far greater than any ethnic group).

Analysts here played down the idea that high black voter turnout would spell defeat for gay marriage.  Sadly, we were wrong.

Lest we forget, "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Leaving our Democracy Unchanged

How can we take ourselves seriously as a democracy when we don't vote on a weekend or holiday and lining up for early voting can lead to an eight hour wait?

The Index offers nothing scary this Halloween.

WINNERS

Barack Obama (BHO) 85.8 +7.54 +8.79%

No, we're not calling the election.  But this week the Illinois senator's star power really came into focus as over 33 million people tuned into his "closing statement" and his appearance on The Daily Show lifted that program and it's lead out -- the Colbert Report -- to their highest ratings ever.

It's good to know he has something to fall back on should this who Leader of the Free World thing not work out.

Ocean's Fourteen?

LOSERS

Mike Singletary (MS50) 6.78 -1.86 -21.53%

Analysts here have ALWAYS loved Mike Singletary for his intellectual and physical dominance over the middle linebacking position in the 1980s.  However, in his first week on the job as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers Singletary, to make a point to his team at half-time, dropped his pants to his ankles and made a speech.  Yep.  First week on the job.

I'm laughing cause I'm STILL not wearing pants.

Yeah... not very professional.  C'mon Mike, we don't need this now.

Let's keep it together, people.

Another day of gains as just over one in five households in the top televison markets tuned in to Barack Obama's televised informercial last night.

He's clearly made his case.  Now we decide.

Critics thought the infomercial might come off as arrogant.  Leave it to consultants to confuse the issue.  It wasn't a victory lap.  It was his platform.  God forbid a candidate talk about what he or she intends to do in office.
