It's been a tough year for the increasingly marginalized and unnecessary interest group. Still chalk one up in their column as the caucus used a walkout and threat of not supporting new regulations on banks to get money from the financial rescue fund earmarked for African-American communities.


LOSERS

Black Political Clout (BPC) 11.4 -3.31 -22.5%

If the election in Atlanta shows us anything it's that, at least for African-Americans, there's not much of a future in politics based on racial identity only -- this despite the CBC's success.

Remember all the political hay the right was trying to make out of the President's winning the Nobel Peace Prize? One can only hope that it taught him the lesson that they're going to hate him no matter what he does, so he might as well do it the way he wants to. One can only hope.
