Bsi 1,290.41 -9.11 -.07%

Little activity as the first week of August looks more like the calm before the coming political storm.

Tyler Perry (TPS) 94.41 +7.67 +8.12%

There's little doubt among analysts that Perry benefits from Hollywood's myopic, "Highlander" approach to black talent -- "There can be only one".

Six in one hand...

Half a dozen in the other.

Right now, Perry is on top, and this week his abisamal "House of Payne" celebrated 100 episodes of lowering the expectations of the black viewing audience.  Congratulations.

To be fair, at least "House of Payne" isn't THIS bad...

Kwame Kilpatrick (KWK) 4.28 -1.33 -23.7%

We thought months ago that it couldn't get any worse.  We were wrong.  Don't sleep on Kilpatrick yet, however, as there are speculators who feel that all the piling on could result in a Marion Barry-like turn around for the Detroit mayor.

That's right bitches... mayor for life!

Bsi 1,299.52 -14.91 -1.13%

Anxiety in the political sector as Hillary Clinton (HRC) continues on with a messy reorganization after reaching political bankruptcy months back.   First there was the bailout of campain debt and now news that she's seeking to have her delegates "heard" in Denver.

Time for somebody to have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up.

A dip today on concerns published in the New York Times about the future of Black politics and politicians in a world where Barack Obama can represent a major party in a presidential election.

Jesse: Thank God there'll still be racism come Jan. 20, 2009 or else we'd be out jobs.
Al: Amen, brother.  Amen.

However, analysts working close with this Index doubt an Obama win will be the Genie, or Magic Negro if you will, to put race and racism back into the bottle.

Nothing magic about this Negro...

Still not quite it...

There we go.

The bulls continue to drive the Index and we hit the fifth consecutive day of gains.

Santogold vs. Diplo mixtape.

Yeah, she's a creator.

VH1's "New York Goes to Hollywood", "I Want to Work For Diddy" and "Luke's Parental Advisory" (aka, the New Black Minstral Hour).

They program a television block where THIS GUY ends up sticking out as the role model.

Almost makes long for days gone by.

Well... almost.

The Index moves 47 points on Barack Obama's 47th birthday.

Hmmm, are they wishing for Ohio or Florida?

And there's optimism among analysts that this time next year this date will be included among the BSI holidays along with MLK Day, Juneteenth and Kwanzaa.  Unless, of course, this man gets his way.

Oh... Martin LUTHER King Holiday.  My bad.

We really do need a new birthday song... what's T-Pain up to?
