Post-Inauguration good will lifts the Index even while the economy continues to contract at a pace not seen in decades.

WINNERS

"Sugar" Shane Mosley (SSM) 4.32 +2.81 +186%

Mosley's impressive victory over seemingly indomitable middle-weight Antonio Margarito pushes him to the top of boxing's top division.

Damn... you got knocked the fuck out!

LOSERS

Juan Williams (JWFX) 1.32 -.59 -30.89%

Williams sinks to a new low as goes after Michelle Obama on The O'Reilly Factor.

Analysts here, of course, have no problem with Stokley Charmichael, but we're not tone-deaf to the way in which Williams intends to use the comparison as an attack our new First Lady.  The brother should know that that's out of bounds.

With Barrack Obama in office it seems former Unelected Black Leader Rev. Al Sharpton has to direct his energy in ways other than meaningless symbolic burials and racial grandstanding.  Sharpton is in Florida where he's calling out "Stop Snitchin'" culture as a traitor to the race following the murder of two teenagers there.

The election of Barack Obama may be more beneficial than first thought.

President Obama's message to the Muslim world is one of the first of many steps to differentiate himself from the past Commander in Chief.

BUY

Kanye in Paris

By rocking a mullet/afro hybrid Mr. West again shows that he's a varied creative figure.

SELL

Thriller: The Musical

New Yorkers love to think of itself as the cultural heart of the country, however, of late the Great White Way has been as vapid and idea-free as Hollywood.  The latest, a planned musical adaptation of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video.

As adapted as we need.

The Index gets a "Push" forward (sorry, couldn't help myself) behind the success of Lee Daniels' film at the Sundance Film Festival.  The adaptation of Sapphire's 1997 novel took home the Grand Jury Prize, The Audience Award and the Special Jury Prize.

That's right, a film with Mariah Carey won an award... and no, it's not a Razzie (this time).
