You know you're doing good for yourself when you inherit a team with King LeBron James.  Now word that the Celtics' Kevin Garnett will miss the entire post-season leaves a trip to the NBA Finals all but there for the taking.

Heck of a job Brownie.  No, seriously.  We mean that.  Good work.

We here at the Index fall into the camp of those who believe that paying your taxes is patriotic (after all, they go to paying for a lot of the shit which make this country so great... like roads, security, etc.).  So naturally when two big names end up on the list of California's biggest tax scofflaws -- they make the loser's list.  Sorry guys.

You'd think one of your "friends" would have given you the heads-up about needing to pay your taxes Dionne.

News that statistics showing that the rate of blacks in state prisons has dropped 22% over the past decade boosts the Index.

That being said, the Washington Post goes as far as to link the drop to the recent shift in drug culture from crack cocaine to methamphetamines -- which leads analysts here to conclude that a serious re-examination of drug policy is still necessary.

The winning design for the upcoming National Museum of African-American History and Culture has been awarded to Tanzanian David Adjaye, thus adding museum architecture to the list of jobs African-Americans refuse to do.

Kidding, of course.  Congratulations David.  We're just glad there's going to be a museum.

The Congressional Black Caucus made the first step, and now President Obama takes the next one as the United States seems to be edging ever closer to normalized relations with Cuba.

Jozy Altidore

Freddie Adu may get a lot of the press, but Altidore is just as much the future of American soccer.

Black Sit-Coms

With the end of "The Game" and "Everybody Hates Chris" it looks like Tyler Perry's "House of Payne" and "Meet the Browns" are about all that's left.  Just in time for the 25th Anniversary of the debut of the Cosby Show.

Hundreds of channels... and nothing on.

The New York Times says that New York Governor David Patterson has slipped below 50% approval among black voters.  Ye gods, that's not how you get re-elected... or in his case, elected.

If Patterson doesn't succeed does that mean it'll be another millennia before New York elects another black guy or will it be blamed on his being blind, ruling out that demographic for the coming eons.
