The View is under fire for a recent segment of the show where Sherri Shepherd and D.L. Hughley alleged that the high rates of HIV in the African-American community can be attributed to "the Down Low" phenomena -- which not only seems wrong, but irresponsible in that it points blame and takes accountability out of the hands of everyone in the community.

Must we point out the whole "DL" irony here?*

The Emmy nominations last week were, no surprise, glaringly whitewashed so it's nice to see the director get a nomination.

So now we know how the Reverend feels about the whole LeBron thing. Phew. Good thing nothing too important is happening in Oakland or anything.

*I guess we do. We are not insinuating that D.L. Hughley is in the closet. Only that his initials match that of afore mentioned controversial phenomenon.

First D.L. and now D.A.G.  After the cancelation of "Chocolate News" it's safe to say it's the worst of times for black fake news show hosts.

Analysts here believe the problem lied not in the concepts, but rather the execution.  Maybe Hughley and Grier weren't quite ready to take up where Chappelle left off.  We just hope that this doesn't signal the moving of black themed shows back to television ghettos.

Maybe it would have succeeded at 4:40 in the morning.

D.L. Hughley's "Breaking the News" gets the axe.  Which is bad news for Hughley (who will stay with the network as a "contributor"), but good news for people who tune into news networks for, you know, news.

As Steele said on the show Rush Limbaugh is an "entertainer".  The canceling of Hughley's show will hopefully serve to help stop the blurring of the line between entertainment and news.

Fivethirtyeight.com has Barack Obama's odds at winning the Presidency at 94.7%.  Still, no one here is celebrating... not yet, at least.

Yeah... let's just hold off on calling this one yet.

WINNERS

David Alan Grier (DAG) 6.24 +1.09 +17.47%

Analysts here have always thought DAG was a talent.  And while neither "Chappelle" or "The Daily Show" -- the two programs Chocolate News will no doubt be compared to -- the news magazine format offers plenty of promise.

D.L. Hughley (DLH) 7.48 +.93 +17.47%

There's debate as to whether or not Hughley has ever found the right vehicle to showcase his talent.  Now he'll get a chance on CNN as he's been tapped to host a "Daily Show" like comedy program.

So, what?... Was there a run on black hosts for comedy news shows that we didn't know about?

LOSERS

Cable News Network  (CNN) 4.51 -.87 -16.17%

Why are they producing a comedy news program?  They should just do what they do and leave the comedy to Fox.
