ZZ Packer

Packer's 2003 collection of short stories, "Drinking Coffee Elsewhere", launched the Yale grad onto the literary scene.  Analysts here look forward to her debut novel, said to be about the migration of blacks to the West following the Civil War. 


Governor Barkley

Charles Barkley has repeated remarked on how one day intends to run for Governor of Alabama.  And while George W. Bush will be the first to tell you that a DUI won't necessarily keep you from elected office, we all know things aren't equal for everyone.

FYI: this isn't this first mugshot.  Yeah, that'll play in Alabama.

And while it may be his propensity for speaking his mind whenever and wherever that eventually costs him the Alabama state house, last week's arrest certainly won't help matters.
